5) Genetic syndromes

Some syndromes related to genetic or chromosomal mutations significantly increase the risk of developing acute myeloid leukemia. Among these disorders, we find down syndrome and other types of trisomy. Genetic diseases that cause defects in the repair of gene material such as Fanconi Anemia, Bloom syndrome, Louis–Bar syndrome, Blackfan-Diamond syndrome, Wiskot-Aldrich syndrome, Schwachman syndrome, Li-Fraumeni, neurofibromatosis, congenital neutropenia or Kostmann syndrome, also increase the risk of developing acute myeloid leukemia.
